National Ambulance Delivers Care to 58.7K Patients in Six Months

The National Ambulance provided emergency medical care to 58,781 patients in the first half of the year, while ambulance teams handled 73,624 emergency calls and the ambulance call centre received 168,659 calls, according to operational statistics reviewed by Emarat Al Youm.

Growing emergency response figures

The same statistics showed that the total number of patients transported to hospitals since the service began has exceeded 356,109, while the number of patients treated has surpassed 575,646. The total number of incidents received reached 1,242,639.

The National Ambulance said it provides round-the-clock emergency medical care through the 998 emergency number, as part of an integrated system designed to ensure rapid response and strengthen community safety.

How callers can help speed up response

It urged people to follow four guidelines when calling the emergency line for medical assistance to help ambulance teams respond more quickly, noting that “every second can save a life”. The service advised callers to remain calm, identify the location of the incident or patient, explain the condition clearly, and follow the instructions of the call handler until the ambulance arrives.

It also said it works with government and private institutions through strategic partnerships that support its core objectives of preserving lives, protecting public safety, and serving the community.

Coverage across five emirates

The service provides care for patients and injured people in the UAE, supported by specialised operations centres and a modern fleet of advanced ambulances, through qualified medical teams that deliver 24-hour ambulance services in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Specialist medical staff at the National Ambulance offer different levels of pre-hospital care through a range of emergency medical services and solutions, including basic and advanced emergency care, ambulance coverage for private and public events, non-emergency patient transport, air ambulance services and on-site medical care.

Teams and ambulances are deployed at 60 locations across the five emirates to ensure an immediate response and appropriate support at incident sites, as well as transport to hospital emergency departments in cases of illness, injury, accidents and wider health crises.

Operational capacity and staffing

The National Ambulance has an advanced operational structure and specialist personnel designed to maintain the highest safety standards for the community, through specialised operations centres linked electronically to the Intelligent Command, Control and Communication system (ICCC), alongside air ambulance services in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior’s Air Wing.

On the ground, the National Ambulance operates a fleet equipped with 60 ambulances, supported by a 30% reserve fleet, 12 first responder vehicles and four advanced incident response vehicles.

The operation is run by a qualified ambulance workforce of more than 480 staff, including basic and advanced paramedics and doctors, supported by more than 40 medical operations officers, as well as an administrative support team made up of 35 managers and support employees.
