The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), التابعة لدائرة البلديات والنقل, has launched awareness campaigns in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Police, the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Q Mobility to reduce random parking around mosques during prayer times. The initiative is aimed at improving traffic flow, making better use of parking spaces and enhancing the experience of worshippers arriving at mosques.
Managing congestion around mosques
Areas surrounding mosques are among the locations that experience high traffic densities at specific times, as large numbers of vehicles and pedestrians arrive and leave in a short period. This makes it essential to encourage motorists to use designated parking spaces and avoid stopping in unauthorised areas, helping to preserve smooth movement and prevent congestion from spreading to adjacent roads and streets.
The centre said that traffic management relies on proactive and organisational measures that help improve the efficiency of parking demand management and public facilities during peak periods, ensuring traffic continues to move and access to different destinations remains smooth.
Shared responsibility
The centre stressed that the success of these efforts depends on the integration of the roles of the relevant entities, alongside community members’ commitment to using designated parking spaces, respecting pedestrian and traffic lanes, and avoiding any obstruction to movement.
These campaigns form part of ongoing efforts to support orderly movement around mosques and reduce avoidable disruption during prayer times, in line with the need to keep traffic flowing and maintain safe access for worshippers.
