Abu Dhabi Police’s Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Centre “Abu Dhabi Mobility”, has called on drivers to park only in designated spaces and to avoid improper or random parking in front of mosques and along main roads, especially during Friday صلاة الجمعة.
Safety and traffic flow
The authorities said random parking on main roads and the crossing of the road to reach a mosque are negative and dangerous traffic behaviours that obstruct the flow of vehicles, block entrances and exits to parking areas, and leave cars parked behind other vehicles in a way that prevents them from moving.
They stressed that compliance with traffic regulations reflects awareness and social responsibility, helps reduce congestion, improves the smooth flow of traffic, and ensures that worshippers and road users reach their destinations safely. They also urged everyone to respect the rights of others and follow traffic instructions in order to strengthen public safety and preserve the civilised appearance of the emirate.
Federal traffic violations
The force noted that the federal traffic law has specified a number of offences related to these practices, stating that Article (60), covering parking behind vehicles in a way that hinders their movement, carries a fine of Dh500, while Article (64), covering improper parking of vehicles, also carries a fine of Dh500.
