Future Media Program Opens in Sharjah for 150 Students

Sharjah Media Academy, part of Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, has launched the tenth edition of its summer training programme, Future Media Professional, which runs until 30 July and brings together 150 boys and girls aged between 10 and 18.

The participants are split across three training locations in the emirate to give them a varied, real-world media experience. The Sharjah headquarters of the authority is hosting 100 students, while the eastern channel in Kalba and the central channel in Al Dhaid are each welcoming 25 students.

The programme includes a range of specialised workshops, most notably television presentation, radio production, photography and editing using smart devices, and media editing with artificial intelligence and its applications in journalism. The training reflects a clear focus on integrating modern technologies into content production.

The programme is built on a comprehensive training approach that combines theory and practice. Participants first receive basic knowledge of media concepts and tools, followed by hands-on application in studios and field settings that mirror the realities of media work. This structure is intended to strengthen skills among young people and enhance their ability to produce content, innovate and use new technologies with confidence and professionalism.

Empowering young people

Shaimaa Abdullah Abdul Raheem, Director of Sharjah Media Academy, said that the launch of the tenth edition reflects the programme’s continued success since its introduction in 2017, noting that it has become an established training platform for refining the skills of young people and preparing them to work in an advanced media environment.

She said: “Future Media Professional is one of our key strategic initiatives at Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. Through it, we are keen to empower young people with modern media skills, introduce them to the basics of television and radio work, and place a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence technologies, which have become a central part of the future of the media industry. We are proud that the programme has reached its tenth edition, which reflects its success and sustainability in preparing a promising new generation of media professionals capable of innovation and creativity.”
