Under the slogan “Schools of Life,” a distinguished series of 23 interactive workshops is launching at Dubai‘s public libraries, aiming to enhance culture and the arts within the Emirati community. This project, organized by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, seeks to provide an innovative educational environment that enables individuals to acquire new skills in arts and crafts, contributing to increased cultural awareness and promoting the values of lifelong learning.
A New Beginning for Culture in Dubai
Through the “Schools of Life” project, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority aims to enrich the local cultural scene by offering a diverse program that includes 23 interactive workshops designed for various age groups, including children, families, and adults. Participants will have the opportunity to explore multiple fields in arts, crafts, languages, music, and nutrition. This program aims to equip individuals with new life skills that reinforce habits of learning and sustainable development.
Innovative Experiences in Art and Cooking
The “Schools of Life” program includes activities targeting all demographics. For instance, in the Health and Nutrition Club, workshops such as “Summer Cocktail,” organized by “Mami Yami” at the Hatta Public Library, teach participants how to prepare refreshing drinks using natural ingredients. Additionally, the Al Jalila Cultural Center for Children hosts a workshop titled “Emirati Fawla: Saffron and Karak Cake,” led by Chef Alia Al Ali, offering a rich cultural experience that highlights the traditions of hospitality in the UAE.
Art Workshops Reflecting Emirati Heritage
Included in the “Schools of Life” are workshops inspired by traditional crafts. The Al Mankhool Public Library hosts a workshop called “Torch Soap,” focusing on the aesthetic aspects of colors and natural ingredients. Furthermore, the “Talli Medal” workshop, presented by Rafeefa Al Suwaidi at the Al Towar Public Library, draws on elements of Emirati heritage, inviting participants to design unique art pieces that reflect the beauty of local culture.
Interaction and Creativity in Music and Performing Arts
The Music and Performing Arts Club at the Al Jalila Cultural Center for Children also includes interactive workshops that focus on developing vocal and rhythmic skills. Among these workshops is “Choral and Performance Arts in Arabic,” offered by “Kardon,” which aims to enhance creative expression and teamwork among children through musical activities.
Undoubtedly, the “Schools of Life” program reflects Dubai’s efforts to establish itself as a global cultural capital, promoting creativity and diversity within the community. The project launches with a passion for enhancing learning and the arts, serving as a meeting point for talents and creatives seeking to elevate the level of local culture.
