Dubai Constructs an Elevated Route on Al Khail Road
In a move aimed at enhancing infrastructure and improving traffic flow, Dubai has announced the construction of an elevated route on Al Khail Road. This new strategic project, which spans 15 kilometers, will serve approximately 2.6 million residents. The elevated route on Al Khail Road reflects Dubai’s commitment to addressing economic growth and a rising population.
Project Details
During a meeting of the Executive Council, Emirati leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved the details of the Al Khail Road development plan, which includes the construction of a connected elevated route extending over 15 kilometers. This project will have a significant impact, featuring three lanes in each direction to facilitate traffic movement and reduce congestion during peak hours.
Economic and Social Benefits
The elevated route on Al Khail Road is part of Dubai’s vision for sustainable development. The project will provide easy access to surrounding areas such as Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Business Bay, and Meydan. This will contribute to speeding up traffic flow and reducing travel time by 51% on Sheikh Zayed Road during peak hours.
Modern Technologies Employed
The project will be executed using innovative engineering techniques and a modern working style, ensuring swift completion without negatively impacting traffic flow in the area. This elevated route is expected to enhance the capacity of the traffic network, increasing vehicle throughput by approximately 9,000 vehicles per hour.
Project Timeline
Construction of the elevated route on Al Khail Road is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with expectations for project completion in the fourth quarter of 2030. This initiative comes at a critical time as Dubai plans to address increasing traffic challenges, demonstrating a proactive vision aimed at improving the quality of life for its residents and visitors.
The establishment of an elevated route on Al Khail Road is a bold and necessary step that will significantly enhance traffic flow within the city, ensuring a smoother future for Dubai’s citizens and residents.
