Federal Tax Authority: Appointing a Tax Agent through the “Emirates Tax” Platform
In a move aimed at improving tax performance and enhancing security, the Federal Tax Authority announced the possibility of appointing a tax agent through the official delegation feature on the “Emirates Tax” platform. This procedure allows taxpayers to appoint their agents without the need to share sensitive information such as usernames and passwords. The main objective of this system is to protect taxpayers’ data and enhance the security of tax transactions, ensuring that applications are submitted through official channels and reducing the risks of account misuse.
Procedures for Appointing a Tax Agent
The procedures for appointing a tax agent involve an official delegation via the “Emirates Tax” platform, emphasizing the importance of taxpayers ensuring that all operations are conducted through the agent’s account after delegation. This approach aims to maintain the confidentiality of information and ensure the integrity of tax procedures. The agent’s duties include providing assistance in tax matters according to the contract, with a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of the data obtained while performing their duties.
Requirements for Registering a Tax Agent
The Federal Tax Authority has established a series of conditions for registering a tax agent, which include having specialized academic qualifications and at least three years of practical experience in taxation, accounting, or law. Additionally, candidates must possess a certificate proving proficiency in both Arabic and English, along with a certificate of good conduct. It is also essential to pass the tax agent exam organized by the authority and pay a registration fee of 3,000 dirhams, which is renewable every three years. Furthermore, applicants must provide a professional liability insurance contract.
Phases of the Linking and Approval Process
When a tax agency submits a request to link a tax agent, the agent will be notified via email. They can then accept or reject the request through their account on the “Emirates Tax” platform. If approved, the request is sent to the Federal Tax Authority for review. In case of any deficiencies, the request is returned to the agency to complete the required documents, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the process as a whole.
Appointing a tax agent through the “Emirates Tax” platform is an important step toward facilitating tax operations and enhancing security and effectiveness, especially given the increasing importance of digital methods in providing government services.
