In a significant development for national security, the الإماراتية air defense systems successfully intercepted 12 ballistic missiles and 123 drones today. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that while one missile impacted UAE territory, there were no reported injuries. This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing challenge posed by external threats, particularly from Iranian forces.
The Ministry of Defense provided detailed information via a post on “X,” indicating that since the commencement of Iranian aggression, a total of 186 ballistic missiles had been detected, with 172 successfully destroyed. Out of the remaining, 13 fell into the sea, and one landed on UAE soil. The report also revealed the tracking and interception of 812 Iranian drones, with 755 neutralized by the air defenses. Notably, 57 drones managed to breach UAE territory, and alongside these threats, eight cruise missiles were also recorded and destroyed. Sadly, the impact of these assaults has resulted in three fatalities, involving individuals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, as well as 68 minor injuries reported across various nationalities.
The Ministry emphasized that the sounds heard across different regions of the country stem from the interception activities of both ballistic missile defense systems and fighter jets targeting drones and cruise missiles. These defensive actions led to minimal to moderate damage to several civil structures, highlighting the pressing need for robust air defense capabilities amid such hostilities.
In a strong condemnation, the Ministry declared the military targeting as blatant aggression and a serious violation of national sovereignty and international law.
