Ras Al Khaimah Launches Innovative Security and Development Committee

In a significant move to bolster the security and efficiency of border management in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has issued two pivotal decisions regarding the establishment and formation of a Security and Development Committee for the emirate’s entry points. These decisions aim to enhance governmental capabilities in managing and securing these crucial access routes, ensuring safety and fostering development within the community.

Establishment of the Security and Development Committee

Sheikh Saud’s first decision, numbered 25 of 2025, formally establishes the Security and Development Committee, granting it legal personality and the authority necessary to undertake its responsibilities. This committee will represent the Ras Al Khaimah government in matters pertaining to the security and development of border crossings across the emirate. The primary goal of the committee is to enhance the emirate’s security capabilities in protecting its entry points, which is essential for maintaining community safety and responding effectively to various challenges.

Objectives and Responsibilities

The committee is tasked with elevating coordination and collaboration among government entities involved in the oversight of border points. This involves facilitating the exchange of expertise, experiences, and best practices among relevant agencies. Additionally, the committee will be responsible for implementing the emirate’s strategic plan related to border security, ultimately aiming to improve the operational performance of the institutions that supervise these access points, ensuring they foster a competitive edge both regionally and internationally.

Leadership and Structure of the Committee

Sheikh Saud also issued decision number 2 of 2026, detailing the formation of the committee under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmad bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, who serves as the head of the Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah. Dr. Rashid Rashid Al Mahrazi, the Director General of Customs in Ras Al Khaimah, will serve as the deputy chair. The committee will also include representatives from relevant agencies, ensuring a comprehensive approach to border management. The decision outlines the appointment of a secretary within the framework of a decree from the committee’s chairperson, with the decisions taking effect immediately upon publication in the official gazette.
