Streamlining 429.8 Thousand Procedural Steps in “Climate Change and Environment”

In light of global challenges related to climate change, the “Bureaucracy Zeroing” program has emerged as an effective step aimed at simplifying government procedures and enhancing performance. This program seeks to streamline 429.8 thousand procedural steps within the framework of “climate change and environment,” contributing to the delivery of more efficient and faster services. Through the development of innovative and flexible solutions, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has improved the customer experience and met diverse needs.

Key Transformations in Work Methodology

Mohammed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, emphasized that the Bureaucracy Zeroing program represents a qualitative shift in how the government manages its operations. The program contributes to redesigning services based on the varied needs of customers. Al Nuaimi mentioned that the ministry deals with a wide range of categories, necessitating the provision of innovative solutions, which has led to the design of 75 service journeys encompassing 24 services and procedures, covering 48 key activities.

Tangible Reductions in Procedures

Al Nuaimi reviewed the notable results related to procedural steps, as efforts in Bureaucracy Zeroing demonstrated a reduction of 430,231 responses within services and a decrease of 86,749 subscriptions and requirements. Additionally, there was a reduction of 730 field visits and 16,915 transactions, contributing to the streamlining of 429,874 procedural steps. This improvement is not limited to a single entity but is implemented through numerous partnerships that contribute to the integration of services.

Launch of New Systems and Technologies

On another note, to enhance the UAE’s international standing in addressing climate change, the ministry launched the “National Unified Reporting Monitoring System.” This system aims to automate the preparation of international reports for the country and share them with global organizations, reducing the report preparation period from 15 months to just 3 months. Furthermore, the number of work steps was shortened from 11 to 4, ensuring the unification of efforts among 240 entities under 7 main authorities.

Digital Market for Recyclable Materials

The first comprehensive national digital market for trading and dealing in recyclable materials has also been launched. This system provides a transparent platform for trading various materials such as zinc and plastic, introducing advanced trading options like digital auctions and direct sales. The market aims to facilitate connections between factories, traders, and partners to ensure smooth supply chains and enhance economic benefits for citizens.

Finally, Al Nuaimi affirmed that Bureaucracy Zeroing is not just about reducing procedures; it represents a comprehensive change in the foundational mindset, based on trust, integration, and collaborative work. These initiatives position the UAE at the forefront of exemplary nations in delivering the government of the future and effectively addressing environmental challenges.
