In its pursuit of global excellence, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved a water loss percentage of 4.5% in its water network, making it the lowest in the world. This figure reflects significant efforts to enhance network efficiency and increase control and monitoring capabilities over water resources. The success of these strategies relies on the latest innovative technologies that support Dubai’s vision of providing sustainable and efficient water services.
Smart Water Distribution Management System
The smart water distribution management system helps DEWA enhance its competitiveness on a global scale. By reducing water loss in the network, this system contributes to improving operational efficiency. Last year, DEWA increased the number of pressure monitoring devices in distribution pipelines to 205, providing accurate insights into the network’s status.
Advanced Control of the Distribution Network
In addition, DEWA has increased the number of automated valves that allow for remote control of the network to 198. This modern technology significantly aids in quickly and effectively identifying any obstacles or leaks in the system, ensuring a reduction in water loss in Dubai’s water network.
Leadership Statements
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, expressed pride in achieving a water loss percentage of 4.5%, the lowest globally. He emphasized the importance of effective water management and asset management, as well as enhancing automation and operational efficiency. These integrated efforts strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading center in water resource management.
Achieving this level of efficiency is a significant accomplishment, helping to ensure a safe and integrated water supply for the residents and visitors of Dubai. With a commitment to sustainable practices and innovation, DEWA is moving toward a bright future in water management, reaffirming its status as a global leader.
