The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has announced the elevation of operational readiness to the maximum level as part of its proactive preparations for the rainy season and weather fluctuations. This is within an integrated system of plans and procedures aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring a swift response to emergencies in various areas and cities of the Emirate of Sharjah.
The authority confirmed that it has activated all emergency plans and operations centers, enhancing the field deployment of civil defense teams working around the clock while ensuring the readiness of specialized equipment and vehicles to handle the effects of heavy rainfall, including boats, amphibious vehicles, and water pumping and drainage equipment.
In a special statement to “Sharjah 24,” Brigadier General Youssef bin Harmool, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, explained that the authority is working in full coordination with relevant government entities, according to a comprehensive plan based on prior preparedness and rapid intervention. He noted that all civil defense centers are in a state of full alert, with increased patrols in areas likely to be affected by water accumulation or flooding.
Harmool added that specialized rescue teams are equipped with the latest technologies and equipment for immediate response to incidents involving vehicles trapped in water accumulations and for rescuing those trapped inside them. He also confirmed the authority’s readiness to implement proactive evacuation plans in coordination with the relevant authorities, should the circumstances require it, especially in coastal or low-lying areas, to ensure the safety of residents.
The Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority urged the public to adhere to safety guidelines, warning against approaching areas of water flow and accumulation or attempting to cross flooded roads, as these pose significant risks to life and property.
He concluded his statement by emphasizing that the safety of the community is a top priority for the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority. He noted that community cooperation and adherence to directives from the relevant authorities directly contribute to overcoming the impacts of weather fluctuations and ensuring everyone’s safety.
