Fitch Confirms Stable AA- Rating for Abu Dhabi Ports

Fitch Affirms Abu Dhabi Ports Rating at AA- with Stable Outlook

Fitch Ratings has affirmed the rating of Abu Dhabi Ports at AA- with a stable outlook, reflecting the organization’s economic strength and financial stability. This decision indicates strong confidence in the group’s performance and its ability to achieve sustainable revenue. Additionally, the rating for the Euro medium-term note program has been confirmed, further solidifying Abu Dhabi Ports’ position in the global economic landscape.

Rating Details and Financial Position

Fitch has maintained the long-term credit rating of Abu Dhabi Ports Group at AA-, with a stable outlook. The agency also confirmed the rating of the unsecured bond program valued at $1 billion, maturing in 2031, at the same level. In its statement, Fitch noted that Abu Dhabi Ports’ rating is one notch lower than the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s rating (AA/Stable), reflecting the strong connection to the government and the likelihood of receiving extraordinary support when needed.

Credit Profile Assessment

The agency assessed the group’s standalone credit profile at bbb+, based on a substantial contractual revenue base that provides long-term visibility and stability for cash flows. This includes vertical integration across five business activities that support the group’s operations. Fitch also highlighted that Abu Dhabi Ports has a strong track record of receiving government support, which includes endowment assets, equity injections, and government grants for construction costs.

Growth Strategies and Resilience

There are no legal, regulatory, or political constraints hindering the government’s ability to provide timely support to Abu Dhabi Ports. The organization exhibits notable diversity in shipping activities, including containers and cargo, contributing to the stability of shipping volumes and market competitiveness. The low revenue share from variable reloading fees, combined with long-term contractual relationships, is expected to mitigate competitive pressures. The group is also expanding and diversifying its income sources through strategic acquisitions and entry into new markets.

Liquidity and Future Plans

Abu Dhabi Ports has confirmed available cash liquidity of up to AED 2.2 billion by the end of September 2025, in addition to AED 4.6 billion in available credit lines under existing facilities. These figures demonstrate the financial strength of the group and its capacity for sustainable growth in the future, enhancing its position as a reliable partner in shipping and investment.

This news generates significant optimism for the future and creates favorable conditions for sustainable growth, positioning Abu Dhabi Ports to become a leader in providing logistics services at both regional and international levels.
