In a significant development for sports management, Khalid bin Hamid Al Qasimi chaired the inaugural meeting of the Sharjah Sports Council today. During the meeting, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Hamid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for the trust placed in him. He also extended his appreciation to the Crown Prince and Deputy Rulers.
Al Qasimi emphasized that the council will strive to maintain and build upon the achievements of the past years. “We aim to live up to the confidence that has been bestowed upon us and to enhance the reputation and status of Sharjah both locally and internationally,” he added. During the meeting, Dr. Abdullah Abdul Rahman bin Sultan was elected as the Vice Chairman of the council. The committees that will operate under the council’s umbrella were also discussed, with their formations expected to be approved in the next meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, attendees reviewed the royal decree establishing the board of directors, which outlines the roles and objectives of the body, as well as defining the responsibilities of both the chairman and the secretary-general. This clear framework will undoubtedly contribute to facilitating work and communication among members, supporting the council’s efforts to advance sports development.
