The Digital School and Education in Kurdistan, Iraq Launch Initiative to Train 10,000 Digital Teachers
In a pivotal step towards enhancing digital education, the “Digital School,” an initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, has launched a program to train 10,000 digital teachers. This initiative aims to equip educators in the region with the latest digital teaching skills through a comprehensive training program organized in partnership with Arizona State University.
Improving Education Quality in Kurdistan
This initiative establishes a new phase of strategic cooperation between the “Digital School” and the Ministry of Education in the region, building on the success of the first phase, which saw the training of 2,400 certified digital teachers, thanks to the support of Dubai Cares. With the launch of this initiative to train 10,000 teachers, the shared commitment to improving education quality and fostering innovation in the educational field is further manifested, enhancing the readiness of the educational system to meet the technological demands of the future.
Fruitful Partnership for Sustainable Educational Goals
In this context, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy and Chairman of the Board of the “Digital School,” Omar Sultan Al Olama, emphasized that developing the digital capabilities of teachers is a central focus of the initiatives undertaken by the school. He noted that “the partnership with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq represents a model of creativity in sustainable education, a significant step towards building a generation of digital teachers capable of integrating technology into education.”
Training Flexibility and Language Diversity
For his part, the Minister of Education in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Alan Hama Saleh, expressed appreciation for the initiatives of the “Digital School,” praising its ability to reach teachers and students wherever they are. He emphasized that “the importance of the Digital School lies in the flexibility of its model and its efficiency in overcoming geographical and linguistic barriers,” making training an effective tool for skill development and enhancing personalized learning.
Providing Innovative Training Programs
The Digital Teacher Academy, part of the Digital School, seeks to enhance digital education by offering training programs aimed at developing digital competencies and innovating teaching methods. The programs are delivered in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, ensuring inclusive participation from all teachers and allowing them to benefit from global educational resources. The program allocates incentives to motivate outstanding teachers, providing international accreditation certificates from Arizona State University as part of its support for positive competition in the educational field.
The Global Academy for the Digital Teacher represents a prominent initiative aimed at promoting the use of technology in education and supporting innovation within classrooms to achieve sustainable development goals. The academy offers high-quality training programs in multiple languages, enhancing teachers’ ability to deliver superior and inclusive education.
Since its inception, the “Digital School,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has aimed to provide intelligent and flexible education targeted at the most in-need groups, including refugees and internally displaced persons. The school has proven its ability to reach over 750,000 students and train more than 23,000 digital teachers, a true testament to the success of its ongoing initiative to enhance digital education.
