The agreement is part of a broader initiative to empower Angola’s healthcare system and ensure sustainable access to quality medical care for its citizens.
Strengthening Healthcare Delivery
“Doctor,” a joint maritime medical project by Abu Dhabi Ports and Burjeel Holdings, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Angolan Ministry of Health. This landmark agreement was formalized by Dr. Benedito Hernani da Silva Quinta, Director of Nacional Dos Hospitals, along with Mohamed Aida Al-Menhali, Regional CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, and Samir Ahmed, Co-CEO of Burjeel Holdings, in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Silvia Lutokota, the Minister of Health for Angola.
Key Areas of Collaboration
The memorandum outlines key areas for partnership, focusing on critical aspects that will support Angola’s ambition to expand its healthcare system. These include logistics support and supply chain services for transporting medical equipment, medicines, and healthcare supplies. Additionally, the collaboration will extend to the joint development and management of hospitals, ensuring that the healthcare infrastructure in Angola evolves to meet increasing demands.
Digital Transformation in Healthcare
The agreement will also explore the digitization of healthcare services related to logistics, aimed at enhancing efficiency and transparency. By jointly investing in projects of mutual interest, both parties will uncover further opportunities within Angola and across other African markets. “This memorandum will help strengthen our health network,” noted Her Excellency Dr. Silvia Lutokota, emphasizing the vision for accessible, quality, and sustainable healthcare in Angola.
Long-term Strategic Vision
Reflecting on the initiative, Samir Ahmed stated, “This initiative mirrors the shared vision of the United Arab Emirates and Angola to enhance healthcare delivery and expand access to high-quality services.” Emphasizing the importance of this collaboration, Mohamed Aida Al-Menhali added, “We are laying a solid foundation to build a more resilient healthcare system and ensure broader access to medical services.
