Schools Celebrate Milestone with Enrollment of One Million Students

Starting tomorrow, August 25, the state’s public and private schools, following the Ministry of Education curriculum, will welcome a remarkable one million students across various educational stages. This marks the beginning of the first term for the academic year 2025-2026, a significant milestone that emphasizes the commitment to educational development in the region.

Launching the New Academic Year

The Ministry of Education is kicking off the new academic year with a national campaign under the theme “From Skill to Leadership.” This initiative involves educators, parents, and the community, aiming to highlight the importance of skills in shaping students’ futures. The campaign encourages students to explore their abilities and transform them into tangible achievements.

Main Focus Areas of the Campaign

The campaign is anchored on three primary pillars. The first is discovery, aimed at transforming schools into nurturing and inspiring environments to uncover and support student talents. The second pillar is development, which seeks to refine student skills through strategic partnerships that provide advanced training opportunities. Finally, the third pillar emphasizes excellence by encouraging students to actively participate in local and international competitions.

Accompanying Programs

Two complementary programs will also be launched in the first month of school: “My Inspiring Family,” involving parents, and the “Inspirational Field Program.” These initiatives are designed to inspire and motivate students throughout their ongoing educational journey.

Academic Calendar Overview

According to the approved academic calendar, this year will have a total of 178 school days, split into 67 days for the first term, 47 for the second term, and 64 for the third term, including meticulously defined official breaks to ensure a balance between study and rest periods.

Assessments and Breaks

The first term will span 14 weeks, commencing on August 25. During this period, students will observe a holiday for the Prophet’s birthday on September 4, with a mid-term break scheduled from October 13 to 15. Moreover, specialized training for the administrative and educational staff will occur from October 16 to 19, aimed at enhancing educational practices and reviewing performance.

Student Evaluations

Diagnostic assessments will take place from September 15 to 19 to evaluate student levels and develop supportive educational plans. Additionally, mock exams are set for November 17 to 19. Final exams for the first term will occur between November 20 and 28, followed by the National Day holiday on December 2 and 3, with assessment activities resuming on December 4 and 5.

Training and Faculty Improvements

The Ministry has recruited over 800 new teaching staff for the academic year, ensuring continuous hiring throughout the year to address any gaps and enhance classroom experiences with exceptional expertise. Alongside this, nine new schools will open across various Emirates, while over 460 existing schools have been prepared and supplied with necessary materials.

Ensuring Student Stability

Both public and private schools have affirmed their readiness to welcome students tomorrow, ensuring a stable and successful start to the academic year 2025-2026. Instructions addressing organizational matters have been communicated to students and parents in advance, paving the way for a smooth transition back to school.

As excitement builds for the start of the new school year, these initiatives and preparations demonstrate the commitment to fostering a conducive learning environment for the one million students stepping into their classrooms.
