The United Arab Emirates is committed to strengthening family stability by providing essential support to households at every stage of their development. Through various initiatives designed to meet the genuine needs of families, the government aims to enhance social cohesion and contribute to long-term national development. In this context, we will explore six initiatives that illustrate the UAE’s dedication to family well-being.
Facilitated Marriage Loans
The Facilitated Marriage initiative focuses on alleviating financial burdens for newlyweds in Abu Dhabi. This program offers interest-free loans of up to 150,000 AED to Emiratis preparing for marriage. This financial support facilitates wedding celebrations that align with cultural traditions while helping couples manage their expenses. Notably, beneficiaries are exempt from repaying 50,000 AED of the loan after five years, provided they welcome two children during that period.
Temporary Housing
The initiative for providing temporary housing assists newly married Emiratis with their rental expenses. Citizens whose monthly income does not exceed 50,000 AED can receive up to 75,000 AED in financial aid. This support is available for two years and can be renewed, allowing eligible families to benefit from housing assistance for a maximum of four years, thus enhancing their living conditions during a crucial time.
Support for Mothers
The home visit program to support new mothers is designed to offer emotional and moral support to parents in the weeks following childbirth. Recognizing that this period is both beautiful and sensitive, this initiative guides couples on best practices for newborn care. It emphasizes the importance of parental cooperation and aims to ensure the health and safety of both the mother and child, contributing to a more stable family environment.
Maternity Leave
This initiative aims to extend maternity leave for women working in the private sector, aligning it with the government sector’s standard of 90 days. By doing so, the program promotes family stability and enables parents to fulfill their responsibilities in caring for newborns. Consequently, this initiative fosters increased family happiness and well-being, allowing mothers to dedicate sufficient time to rest and nurture their child’s health, both physically and emotionally.
Partial Repayment of Housing Loans
The initiative to partially relieve citizens from repaying a portion of their housing loans reduces the overall loan burden. Families can receive deductions of 30,000 AED for their fourth and fifth children and 40,000 AED for the sixth child, without altering the original repayment period. This initiative targets families with monthly incomes ranging from 21,000 to 50,000 AED, thereby directly supporting their financial stability.
Extension of Housing Loan Repayment Period
For Emiratis earning more than 50,000 AED monthly, this initiative allows for an extension of the repayment period on housing loans by up to nine years. Specifically, for each additional child from the fourth to the sixth, families can benefit from an extension of three years for their monthly installments. This plan enhances financial ease for families, promoting their stability and fostering a nurturing environment for their children.
The UAE’s commitment to stabilizing families through these initiatives reflects a profound understanding of the challenges faced by households. By weaving together financial support, housing aid, and parental resources, the government is paving the way for robust family well-being, ultimately enriching the nation as a whole.
