24,000 Inspection Visits Recorded by Ras Al Khaimah Economy in H1

Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Economic Development recorded strong compliance results in the first half of the year after carrying out 24,359 inspection visits across the emirate’s various establishments and economic activities.

The inspections found that 21,968 establishments were complying with the approved requirements and regulations, giving an overall compliance rate of 90%. The department said this reflects the effectiveness of its regulatory system and its role in promoting a well-organised and competitive business environment based on adherence to laws and legislation.

Consumer protection and fair competition

The field visits form part of the department’s efforts to raise compliance among commercial establishments, verify their commitment to the rules governing economic activities, and help protect consumers’ rights, strengthen fair competition and reduce commercial violations. The work also supports sustainable economic development in Ras Al Khaimah.

Faisal Abdullah Alioun, Director of the Department’s Commercial Control and Protection Department, said the compliance rate achieved in the first half of the year reflects the success of the inspection plans implemented by the department, as well as the positive cooperation shown by private-sector establishments in abiding by the regulations governing markets.

Risk-based inspections and digital tools

He said the department is focused on building a modern inspection system based on advance planning and risk analysis, ensuring that regulatory efforts are directed towards priority activities and deliver the highest levels of efficiency.

“We believe that compliance with regulations is a shared responsibility between government entities and the business sector, and this has a positive impact on service quality, protects consumer rights and enhances the attractiveness of the investment environment in the emirate,” he said.

Alioun added that commercial control and protection teams continue to carry out field campaigns according to operational plans targeting a range of economic sectors, while responding immediately to reports and complaints and taking the necessary action against violators in line with the applicable regulations. He also said awareness initiatives are being intensified to spread a culture of compliance among establishment owners and workers.

He noted that the department is also using modern technologies and digital transformation in inspection and monitoring operations, helping to improve performance efficiency, speed up procedures and enhance the quality of regulatory services in line with best government practices.

Ongoing programmes

The department said it will continue to implement its regulatory and awareness programmes under integrated plans that reinforce sustainable compliance, strengthen trust in markets and support the emirate’s position as a leading economic and investment destination offering a safe, fair and growth-friendly business environment.
