Aspiring to strengthen the maritime heritage of the UAE, the “نوخذة أبوظبي” program has been launched by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, with support from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. This initiative, which commenced on June 30, invites over 200 sailors and sailing enthusiasts to partake in a two-month journey that aims to promote sailing culture among younger generations. Through hands-on training in essential sailing skills and vessel navigation, participants will be prepared to compete in 22-foot sailing boats and contribute to preserving the region’s rich maritime legacy.
Fostering Youth Engagement in Sailing
The “نوخذة أبوظبي” program has been meticulously designed to instill a deep appreciation for sailing among the youth. This initiative is about more than just mastering sailing; it’s about cultivating a sense of belonging to the UAE’s maritime traditions. Participants will learn both the foundational skills needed for sailing and the intricacies of leadership when commanding a vessel. This immersive training is geared towards enabling young sailors to join competitions, thus directly connecting them to the UAE’s proud nautical history.
Talent Identification and Development
A crucial aspect of the “نوخذة أبوظبي” initiative is its focus on recognizing young talent. Specialized teams will monitor and assess the participants to gauge their abilities. This identification process is designed to prepare them for future competitions in larger boat categories, including the prestigious 43 and 60-foot classes. By nurturing these emerging skills, the program promises to ensure the continuity of traditional sailing, paving the way for a new generation of capable sailors.
Weekly Training Sessions on Abu Dhabi’s Shores
Training sessions for the “نوخذة أبوظبي” program are held weekly at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. Conducted under the guidance of experienced instructors, these sessions provide participants with structured learning opportunities within a set timeframe. This hands-on approach ensures that aspiring sailors receive personalized attention while honing their skills, making the program particularly effective in fostering passion and expertise in sailing.
Aligning with Strategic Cultural Goals
The launch of “نوخذة أبوظبي” aligns seamlessly with the strategic vision of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Both institutions aim to preserve and modernize the UAE’s maritime heritage, making it relevant for today’s youth. This initiative not only promotes traditional sports but also resonates with the broader national agenda, especially in light of the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community. The commitment to nurturing young sailors signifies a promising future for the UAE’s rich maritime culture.
