Recently, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates received an official correspondence from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. The message was delivered by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his meeting with Humayun Kabir, the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor. This interaction underscores the commitment of both countries to maintain an open dialogue and foster their relationship.
Discussing Regional Security Concerns
During the meeting, pressing issues regarding regional security were addressed, particularly the implications of recent Iranian missile attacks on the UAE and other neighboring nations. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Humayun Kabir unequivocally condemned these violent acts, referring to them as “aggressive terrorist assaults.” They asserted the right of nations targeted by such attacks to take necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and ensure the safety of their citizens, residents, and visitors, in accordance with international law.
Affirming Diplomatic Solidarity
Humayun Kabir reiterated Bangladesh’s full solidarity with the UAE, vowing support for actions that uphold the nation’s security and stability. This expression of solidarity reflects Bangladesh’s commitment to maintaining a cooperative stance in the face of regional threats. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan appreciated this support, recognizing Bangladesh’s principled position alongside the UAE during challenging times.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The two officials also explored several other topics of mutual interest related to their countries’ diplomatic relations. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE’s determination to enhance cooperative and constructive relations with Bangladesh, which will serve the mutual interests of both nations. This approach aims to contribute to sustainable economic development and prosperity for their peoples.
