Under the patronage and directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the much-anticipated tenth edition of the “Security and Safety” cycling race is set to begin tomorrow, Sunday. Organized by the Office of the Ruler of Dubai, this event features a race for male amateur Emirati cyclists, covering a distance of 158 kilometers. The race will commence from the Dubai Police Academy and culminate at the Al Marmoom Reserve in the peaceful Seih Salm region. This year’s event reflects the growing stature of the competition as a leading community sports event globally, noted for its diversity and substantial cash prizes.
A Celebration of Cycling Excellence
Amir bin Jumaa Al Falasi, General Director of the Office of the Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, emphasized that this route selection aligns with the vision and directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The initiative aims to celebrate national institutions and the prominent cultural and heritage landmarks in Dubai. The design of the cycling routes allows riders to traverse various neighborhoods, with past collaborations involving notable national institutions such as the Office of the Ruler of Dubai and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. This year’s race reaffirms the commitment to promoting Dubai as a top destination for cycling enthusiasts.
Encouraging Active Lifestyles
Al Falasi remarked that the male amateur race has seen a consistent rise in standards and competition levels year after year. Each participant is eager to secure a place on the podium, reflecting the core objectives of the “Security and Safety” cycling race to encourage everyone to adopt a more active lifestyle through sports. The ongoing competitions are pivotal in attracting more community members to embrace cycling. This year’s edition proudly carries the theme “Ten Years of Achievements and Success,” celebrating a decade since the launch of this signature sporting event, which has become a beacon for excellence and creativity in cycling. It also showcases Dubai’s landmarks to the world.
Upcoming Events and Initiatives
The Supreme Organizing Committee has announced the continuation of four main races in this tenth edition. Registration is currently open for the Elite Race, dubbed “Diwan of the Ruler of Dubai Race,” scheduled for January 18. This year marks the second consecutive time the race will be held, starting from the Diwan and reaching Al Marmoom Reserve. Additional highlights include the Women’s Race on January 25, followed by the Desert Race on February 1, 2026. Furthermore, the committee has opened registration for the photography competition, which aims to encourage creative photographers to document this pioneering cycling championship and capture the beauty of Dubai alongside the competitive spirit.
The event is conducted in collaboration with several strategic partners, including the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Roads and Transport Authority, the Dubai Sports Council, the Media Office of the Government of Dubai, Dubai Sports Channel, the UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film.
