Gagha Opens the Final Symbols of Marmoom, and Nahid Snatches the Gun for the Male Camels
The Marmoom Final Festival 2026 kicked off with excitement as “Gagha,” owned by Rashid Mohammed Ali Rashid Al Abbar Al Falasi, claimed the title of the festival’s symbols, adding a thrilling touch to the competitions, especially after winning the Open Female Camel Cup. Meanwhile, “Nahid,” owned by Ayed Rafan Ayed Al Qahtani, managed to seize the gun for the Open Male Camel category, establishing himself as one of the standout competitors. This prominent event attracted widespread local and Gulf participation, providing an ideal platform for camel racing enthusiasts.
Intense Competitions Amid Unstable Weather
The championships for the young camels of tribal descendants took place on the second day of the festival, with challenges commencing under unstable weather conditions. Despite the rain, several camel breeds delivered outstanding performances, with 2,073 camels competing in various heats throughout the day. Notably, 20 heats were held in the evening, featuring the four symbol heats for the open and production categories.
Remarkable Achievements and Prize Money
“Gagha” garnered attention by winning the Open Female Camel Cup, completing the race in a time of 6:15.9 minutes, with a prize of one million dirhams. “Nahid” was not far behind in the spotlight, managing to secure the gun for the Open Male Camel category, with a prize valued at 800,000 dirhams and an exceptional time of 6:12.5 minutes, the best in the evening heats.
Commitment to Safety and Effective Guidance
In light of the changing weather conditions, Ali Saeed Bin Sarood, Executive Director of the Dubai Camel Racing Club, confirmed that the safety of participants was a top priority. “Hamdan bin Mohammed has directed that the highest safety standards be provided for everyone,” said Bin Sarood. He also emphasized that specialized technical teams had been deployed to monitor the weather conditions and safety measures to ensure the competitions proceeded smoothly.
New Events and Future Directions
As the challenges for the young camels of tribal descendants commence, participants are looking forward to more exciting heats. The events include 22 heats over a distance of 5 kilometers, with the first ten heats dedicated to production camels. Additionally, the 13th Marmoom auction for personal production of weanlings has been postponed due to the weather, highlighting the club’s commitment to considering the climatic conditions for participants and announcing a new date soon.
