Dubai Government Implements New Summer Working Hours Tomorrow

Dubai will begin implementing summer working hours for government entities starting tomorrow, as part of the “Our Summer is Flexible” initiative aimed at enhancing productivity and employee satisfaction in the public sector. This initiative will be in effect until September 12, 2025. It reflects the commitment of the Dubai government to improve working conditions and provide a flexible environment that contributes to a better work-life balance, which is significant support for social and economic growth in the emirate.

Details of Summer Working Hours

Starting tomorrow, government entities in Dubai will implement summer working hours for their employees, in accordance with the “Our Summer is Flexible” initiative. Employees will be divided into two groups based on the needs of each entity. The first group will provide services over an 8-hour period from Monday to Thursday, with Friday off. Meanwhile, the second group will work for 7 hours from Monday to Thursday and 4.5 hours on Friday. Services will be available from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, and from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday.

Success of the Pilot Implementation

Following the positive results from the pilot implementation of the initiative in the summer of 2024, which included 21 government entities, there was a noticeable increase in productivity and significant improvement in the work environment. Data from the Dubai Government Excellence Program showed a marked improvement in the performance of these entities, with employee satisfaction levels rising to approximately 98%, reflecting the success of the initiative in achieving its goals.
