Dubai Electricity’s Women’s Committee Launches Empowerment Program for Emirati Girls

In a vibrant celebration of Emirati Women’s Day under the theme “We Show the Strongest and Best,” the Women’s Committee at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a month-long series of events across four venues: Al Shira’a, Al Ruwaya, Warsan, and Umm Hurair 2. The programme engaged 600 female employees and showcased the agency’s commitment to supporting Emirati women.

Commemorating Achievements

According to His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, “The month-long celebration of Emirati Women’s Day reflects the profound appreciation and focus that the United Arab Emirates has for Emirati women, highlighting the wealth of remarkable achievements accomplished by Emirati women in various fields of national work.”

Empowering Women and Celebrating Heritage

Fahima Mohammed Al Joker, the Chairperson of the Women’s Committee at DEWA, stated, “We aimed to provide a comprehensive programme that combines the empowerment of women, pride in Emirati identity and heritage, attention to women’s health and quality of life, and the recognition of employees who contributed to the agency’s successes and strategic goals for Dubai.” This initiative underlines the importance of promoting a positive environment for women in the workforce.

Participation in Strategic Initiatives

In its role as a strategic partner, DEWA participated in the “Emirati Women’s Forum 2026,” organised by the Dubai Women Foundation and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of the Dubai Women Foundation. Members of the Women’s Committee engaged in several discussions at the forum, addressing the role of Emirati women in leadership and their impact on vital sectors.

Leadership Workshops and Recognition

Furthermore, the Dubai Women Foundation, in collaboration with Hult International Business School, conducted a workshop titled “Leadership Amid Challenges,” which included participation from 15 employees. This workshop aimed to introduce various leadership styles. As part of the celebrations, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer also honoured a select group of Emirati female employees who made significant contributions to the construction of Al Shira’a, DEWA’s new headquarters.

Celebratory Events

The honouring ceremony included a variety of activities, such as workshops and a video presentation showcasing the remarkable achievements of the Women’s Committee. This recognition serves not only to celebrate individual contributions but also to reinforce the positive trajectory of women in Dubai’s workforce.
