“Al-Habboob” and “Meyas” Shine at the “Thaniyah” Championship of “Khatami Al-Marmoom”
In a festive atmosphere, the Khatami Al-Marmoom Festival 2026 witnessed the remarkable performances of “Al-Habboob” and “Meyas” during the Thaniyah age category competitions, where participating camels won valuable prizes and strategic symbols. This event, which highlights the exceptional skills of camel owners and their speed, saw the participation of around 1,184 camels and strong showings across various heats, making it one of the most prominent events in the world of camel racing.
Crowning the Winners
Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Camel Racing Club, crowned the winners of the Thaniyah competitions for the tribes’ camels. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, along with Ali Saeed bin Sarood, the club’s Executive Director, and Abdullah Ahmed Faraj, Director of Media and Marketing. The evening session, which included 16 heats over a distance of 8 kilometers, showcased the undeniable strength of the participating camels.
“Al-Habboob” managed to win the open Thaniyah female cup and a prize of 1.5 million dirhams, finishing the distance in a record time of 12:04:5 minutes. Meanwhile, “Meyas” claimed the open Thaniyah male gun and a similar prize, crossing the finish line in 12:11:9 minutes.
Heats Marked by Competition
In the local Thaniyah female cup heat, “Al-Ahour,” led by Nasser Abdullah Ahmed Al-Masnad, took first place with a time of 12:09:3 minutes. “Lazeem” snatched the local Thaniyah male gun and a prize of 800,000 dirhams, recording a time of 12:06:8 minutes. In terms of production racing, “Al-Banzin” added a second symbol for Nasser Abdullah Al-Masnad after winning the Thaniyah female cup for production and a prize of 1.5 million dirhams.
Additionally, “Mub’ad” secured the Thaniyah male gun for production, gifting his owner, Maktoum Saeed Manana Ghadir Al-Ketbi, a distinguished symbol with a time of 12:10:7 minutes.
Morning Challenges and Competition Among Camels
The start of the competition day also featured strong heats in the morning session, where “Al-Zafra,” owned by Mohammed Abdullah Balhab Al-Amiri, claimed victory in the first heat designated for local Thaniyah females. “Al-Kaida” took first place in the second heat for hybrid Thaniyah females, while “Al-Afandim” excelled in the third heat with a time of 12:32:4 minutes.
The time of “Khawf,” which shone with a record of 12:22:5 minutes, was the most notable in all the morning challenges, capturing the attention of camel racing enthusiasts.
Continued Excitement at the Auction
The festival was not limited to races alone; it also featured the 13th Marmoom Auction “G,” which attracted the attention of major owners and personal production seekers. Seventy camels were showcased amid active buying activity that reflected the deep value of this heritage sport. A female camel from the “Al-Danjlawi – Al-Aseefa” lineage achieved a remarkable price of 550,000 dirhams.
The events continue with other evenings, increasing the excitement among owners and trainers, amid expectations of sustained high attendance. This festival highlights the pride and rich heritage of camel racing in the region, with increasing competition and thrilling outcomes throughout the days.
