Abu Dhabi’s Development Agency Launches Unique Satellite in “Tayer” Constellation

The Abu Dhabi Development Fund has announced the launch of its first dedicated satellite within the “Tayyar” constellation, part of the Orbit X initiative. This significant step is aimed at integrating advanced artificial intelligence technologies into the developmental financing framework.

Enhancing Project Monitoring

Upon its activation, this satellite capacity will significantly enhance the Fund’s ability to monitor the implementation stages of projects it has financed across various countries. It will provide independent and near-instantaneous data to support more precise decision-making based on data analysis.

Comments from the Fund’s Director General

In relation to this launch, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, stated, “This launch represents a qualitative leap in the development work tools, allowing the Fund to employ advanced AI technologies in evaluating project progress and transforming data into actionable insights that bolster execution efficiency and amplify developmental impact. We are committed to adopting innovative solutions that enhance our capacity to supervise projects, thereby contributing to achieving their development objectives and maximising community benefits.”

The Role of Partnership with Orbit X

His Excellency added, “Our partnership with Orbit exemplifies the growing capabilities of the UAE in the space and advanced industries sector, thanks to the vision and support of our leadership for innovation. Through this partnership, we are working to develop monitoring and decision-making mechanisms that strengthen the Fund’s role in supporting partner countries and executing projects that create a tangible impact on community lives.”

Details of the Satellite Capacity

Under the partnership with Orbit X, the Fund will benefit from dedicated capacity within the “Tayyar” constellation, which comprises ten satellites equipped with AI technologies and various sensors, all assembled and integrated in Abu Dhabi.

Integration with Advanced Technologies

This capacity will empower the Fund to direct satellite imaging, access high-precision Earth observation data, and connect with Orbit X’s secure digital command platform. This will facilitate the independent monitoring of project implementations, infrastructure developments, and environmental conditions in various countries and regions around the globe.
