UAEs Billion-Dollar Aid Transforming Gazas Future

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza has prompted the United Arab Emirates to escalate its support, with financial aid and assistance exceeding one billion dollars. This steadfast commitment is underscored by the UAE’s robust medical and relief initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people during these challenging times. Recent declarations from the UAE’s Foreign Ministry highlight the depth of this commitment, showcasing both immediate and ongoing support for those in desperate need.

As stated in a recent post on the UAE’s official platform on “X,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, “Within this enduring humanitarian message, the UAE has dispatched medical and relief aid to the sector by all available means—land, sea, and air—along with financial support that has surpassed 1.5 billion US dollars.” The ministry further emphasized, “We have also welcomed hundreds of injured individuals and patients to receive medical care in our hospitals.” This comprehensive response exemplifies the UAE’s dedication to supporting the Palestinian people in their time of need, with promises to maintain this vital assistance.

According to the financial tracking service of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UAE ranks as one of the top countries providing assistance to Gaza. This significant backing is evident in the medical support extended in the region. Over 72,280 cases have been treated at the UAE’s field and floating hospitals located off the coast of Al-Arish. Additionally, the UAE has facilitated the evacuation of 2,630 patients and their companions, including cancer patients, through 25 airlift missions to the UAE for vital medical treatment.

Moreover, the UAE has earmarked 5 million US dollars for a polio vaccination campaign in Gaza, collaborating closely with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and UNRWA. In terms of humanitarian corridors and relief convoys, a total of 3,736 tons of aid have been dropped via air within the “Birds of Goodness” operation, complemented by 5,575 trucks loaded with diverse humanitarian supplies. Notably, 656 aircraft participated in transporting humanitarian assistance, alongside 17 ships that were sent to Gaza.

To further enhance its support efforts, the UAE is providing resources to 30 automated and manual bakeries, as well as 30 community kitchens and food banks, ensuring daily meals for approximately 100,000 beneficiaries. Furthermore, the UAE has activated six desalination plants, capable of producing 2 million gallons of water daily. This multi-faceted approach underscores the UAE’s unwavering commitment to providing crucial support to Gaza, reinforcing its role as a leading humanitarian actor in the region.
