Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Promotes Home-Away Feature Activation

Under its summer awareness campaign titled “Explore Broader Horizons of Smart Options This Summer,” the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is urging residential customers to activate the “Out of Home” feature before traveling. This initiative ensures that electricity and water consumption efficiency is maintained, even in the absence of the occupants. With this feature, clients can monitor their consumption remotely while traveling, which can be activated through their accounts on DEWA’s official website and mobile application. They can also set a specific duration for the service, allowing them to receive daily and weekly consumption reports directly to their email. This early intervention capability helps minimize wastage.

Tips for Responsible Consumption

DEWA advises customers to ensure that all lights are turned off before leaving. The use of timers for outdoor lighting and water valve closures is recommended, along with regular inspections for potential leaks. Such proactive measures contribute significantly to resource conservation. Additionally, DEWA emphasizes the importance of hiring qualified technicians for regular maintenance of electrical and water systems to prevent issues that could lead to higher consumption.

Utilizing the DEWA Store

The DEWA mobile app includes the “DEWA Store,” which provides names of certified service providers that customers can contact if any internal malfunctions occur in their buildings. This feature helps users access necessary repair services quickly while also benefiting from special discounts available to DEWA customers.

Embracing Smart Living Initiatives

Furthermore, DEWA encourages customers to take advantage of digital services offered through the “Smart Life” initiative aimed at minimizing waste. This program allows users to track their bill details and tariff brackets while monitoring their electricity and water consumption daily, weekly, and monthly through a dedicated dashboard. The “Consumption Assessment Tool” offers an interactive questionnaire to assist customers in analyzing their usage patterns and identifying potential improvements. After the assessment, users receive detailed reports and tailored suggestions to enhance efficiency.

Instant Alerts for Higher Consumption

The “High Water Consumption Notification Service” sends immediate alerts when unusual consumption patterns are detected post-metering. This feature enables customers to identify leaks promptly and take corrective actions. Launched in June as part of DEWA’s awareness campaign, the initiative aims to inform customers about innovative means to monitor their consumption proactively and digitally, promoting a more efficient and sustainable lifestyle, particularly during the summer months. The focus on activating the “Out of Home” feature is a central part of this strategy, ensuring that customers remain engaged with their resource consumption even when they are physically away.
