Etihad Airways celebrates significant achievements, welcoming 20 million passengers and expanding its fleet to over 100 aircraft. This year marks a historic record for the company, with tremendous growth in passenger numbers and substantial investments in its fleet. Etihad Airways welcomes 20 million passengers and expands to over 100 aircraft as it continues to achieve successive milestones, with the current year recording many historic numbers. According to Antonioaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways: “In the past twelve months, we have witnessed remarkable successes, with the number of passengers jumping to 20 million guests for the first time, driven by strong global demand.”
Neves noted that “the strategic growth plan has doubled our passenger numbers from 10 million to 20 million in less than two and a half years.” He continued: “We are in a leading position in the region and the company has ambitious plans to achieve even more successes in the future.”
In celebration of the milestone of 20 million passengers, Etihad Airways presented a series of surprises for the Chopra couple, who traveled from New Delhi to Toronto. They experienced a unique travel journey, starting with an upgrade to business class on the A350, which Mr. Chopra expressed by saying, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience!”
Upon their arrival at Abu Dhabi International Airport, they were greeted by Mark Potter, the General Manager of the Etihad Guest program, and were upgraded to Gold status. The surprises continued with the couple being upgraded to the Residence on the A380 flight to Toronto. The couple expressed their joy, saying: “Thank you so much, Etihad! It’s an unforgettable experience!”
Additionally, Etihad Airways has enhanced its fleet with three new aircraft, bringing the total to over 100. Among the additions are two Airbus A350-1000s and a Boeing 787-9, while its seventh A380 has been reactivated. The company continues its strategic investments to meet the growing demands of the global market, with 18 additional aircraft expected by 2025.
Furthermore, Etihad Airways announced the expansion of its route network to 27 new destinations this year, with expectations to reach around 90 destinations by the end of 2025. This growth reflects the company’s commitment to making Abu Dhabi a dominant destination for travelers from around the world, leveraging its strategic geographical location.
These steps are part of its ambitious strategy to increase the number of destinations to 125 and its aircraft to over 170, with a goal of welcoming 38 million passengers annually by 2030. What distinguishes Etihad Airways is its strong record in meeting passenger needs, reflecting the growing demand and high satisfaction of its customers, affirming the strength of the aviation sector in Abu Dhabi.
