Sharjah Attracts 142 Investment Projects Worth 7.74 Billion AED

Sharjah 24 – WAM:

Sharjah is positioning itself as a key player in the global investment landscape, with a strategic focus on attracting high-potential markets for growth and investment. Mohammed Jumaa Al Mershed, Executive Director of the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office, “Invest in Sharjah”, emphasised that the upcoming phase will centre on exploring new opportunities within Asian and regional markets, while reinforcing the emirate’s presence in established markets such as India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

Speaking at the AIM Investment Summit 2026, Al Mershed highlighted the importance of targeting markets with expertise in technology, manufacturing, logistics, and innovation. He noted that Sharjah’s participation in the summit aims to elevate the emirate’s profile on the global investment map, engage with investors and decision-makers, uncover new opportunities and partnerships, and showcase the competitive advantages and investment prospects within Sharjah to attract quality investments that support sustainable economic growth.

Al Mershed identified India, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States as some of the leading investor markets in Sharjah, alongside various regional markets. The emirate’s allure lies in its diversified economy, strategic location, robust infrastructure, and competitive business environment. He stated that these factors contribute significantly to the emirate’s attractiveness to international investors.

Regarding the sectors drawing the most foreign direct investment (FDI) in Sharjah, Al Mershed pointed to projects associated with technology and artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, clean energy and sustainability, as well as logistics, infrastructure, food production, and manufacturing, which he believes will continue to offer substantial growth opportunities.

During his participation on the first day of the summit in a session titled “Investment Guide for Shared Prosperity: The New Standard for Global Leadership”, Al Mershed underscored the concept of “quality investment”. He clarified that this approach transcends mere capital volume, focusing instead on the long-term developmental impact, including job creation, capacity building, enhancing supply chains, and bolstering local economic growth.
