The Sharjah Municipality has successfully concluded the eighth edition of its “Fun Municipality Summer” programme, which attracted an impressive 11,000 participants. This initiative forms part of the municipality’s annual summer activities and community engagement efforts aimed at fostering connections with residents, particularly children. Through a varied array of educational workshops, competitive events, and interactive recreational activities, the programme combined learning with enjoyment to effectively utilise children’s time during the summer holiday while simultaneously nurturing their skills and talents.
Encouraging Skill Development in a Fun Environment
Ali Obaid, Director of the Government Communication Department, highlighted the significance of the “Fun Municipality Summer” programme as an essential annual event within the municipality’s summer agenda. He noted that it serves as a platform for integrating learning and entertainment, allowing children to productively channel their energy and time. The programme is designed to promote skill development and enable children to discover their talents and interests in an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. Furthermore, it reflects the municipality’s commitment to community engagement, aligning with the broader activities of “Sharjah Summer,” which boasts a diverse array of purposeful programmes that meld entertainment with education.
Engaging the Community Across Multiple Venues
This year, the programme particularly focused on the children of municipality employees and park visitors, with activities hosted across six different parks. This strategic choice aimed to reach a wide audience of beneficiaries throughout various neighbourhoods in the city. These parks provide an ideal setting for such events, offering safe spaces and comprehensive facilities that integrate fun with learning, thus enabling children to acquire new skills while enjoying educational and recreational workshops of various kinds.
Robust Activities and Workshops for Holistic Development
The programme included a range of workshops and activities that encompassed various aspects of municipal work, such as engineering, health, environmental, and agricultural considerations. This approach aimed to familiarise participants with the municipality’s role and the services it offers to the emirate and the community. Additionally, a series of fun summer competitions and activities were organised to foster a spirit of participation and interaction among children, further enhancing the overall experience of learning through entertainment.
With the conclusion of this year’s programme, the municipality reaffirms its dedication to enriching the lives of children and families in Sharjah through engaging and educational summer activities.
