The Emirates Shooting Federation recently reported a significant success in its training camp for promising talents in air rifle and pistol shooting, specifically the “10m Air” event. The camp is currently being held at the Sharjah Sports Club shooting range and will continue until August 8.
Collaboration Between Institutions
This initiative boasts participation from 14 male and female athletes from various Emirates, facilitated in collaboration with the UAE Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents, under the Ministry of Sports. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Development and Sports Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry, and Chairman of the UAE Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents, addressed the importance of this camp, calling it a practical step towards establishing a systematic approach for athlete preparation. This aligns with the best international practices aimed at enhancing performance and refining skills.
Objectives and Expectations
Sheikh Suhail emphasized that the camp serves as a comprehensive platform for identifying emerging talents and bolstering their readiness for competition, thereby contributing to the formation of a robust pool of professional shooters. He noted that this camp exemplifies the collaboration between the committee and the Emirates Shooting Federation, aimed at unifying efforts and integrating roles among different entities in harmony with strategic objectives of sustainable national talent development.
Building on Previous Events
The Emirates Shooting Federation highlighted that this camp stems from the talent championships held in May, which aimed to prepare a national base of promising shooters. The initiative focuses on enhancing their essential technical skills, improving physical and psychological readiness, and conducting a technical assessment to determine their current levels and outline future development paths.
Structured Training Environment
The training programme is being executed according to a predetermined timeline, encompassing the provision of administrative and technical requirements, preparation of training facilities, and daily monitoring and coordination with the players’ parents. An emphasis is placed on ensuring a secure training environment for all participants.
