On July 6, 2026, the Emirati field hospital in Gaza hosted a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The meeting focused on exploring humanitarian collaboration to strengthen health services in the region. This initiative highlights the Emirati hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing vital medical care and support amid challenging conditions in Gaza.
During a field visit to the hospital, the OCHA delegation, which included Susana Tkalec, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Territories; Taher Ibrahim, Head of the OCHA office in the sector; and Emma Fitzpatrick, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) office, was welcomed. Also part of the delegation were Botros Street, an expert on essential medicines, and Heba Al-Najjar, Emergency Coordinator and liaison for incoming medical teams at the WHO.
During their tour, the delegation members observed the workflow and health services provided by the hospital, which aim to meet the needs of patients and the injured. The team gathered to learn about the healthcare system in the hospital, listening to explanations about the efforts made by Emirati medical personnel to enhance the quality of care and achieve the highest professional standards.
In light of this visit, participants discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between humanitarian and international organizations. This collaboration is essential for supporting the continuity of health services and enhancing the response to the growing humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip. The Emirati field hospital aims, through these efforts, to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those affected by conflict.
At the end of the visit, commemorative gifts were exchanged between the Emirati medical mission and the OCHA delegation, reflecting the importance of collaboration and partnership in supporting humanitarian and health efforts in the region. This ongoing cooperation embodies a strong ambition to enhance healthcare and provide sustainable medical services in the face of the challenges facing Gaza.
