Details of the New Shipment

Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Abdel Ghani, the veterinary supervisor at Al-Wasat Farm, stated that the latest shipment, which arrived via Sharjah International Airport, consists of 2,075 heads, including 150 males and 1,925 females of the “Cypriot Shami” breed. This breed is renowned for its high production capacity in terms of meat and milk, as well as its adaptability to the UAE climate. This new addition has strengthened the herd, reflecting the farm’s commitment to achieving its ambitious goals.

Scientific Methods in Breed Improvement

Dr. Ahmed explained that Al-Wasat Farm relies heavily on scientific research for breed improvement and hybridization with local breeds to increase production. The specialized team uses modern techniques in developing goat breeding systems, contributing to increased organic meat and twin production, while also enhancing the productivity of hormone-free and antibiotic-free organic goat milk. These methods are part of a comprehensive plan to improve the health and strength of the herd, ensuring quality production.

Research and Genetic Improvement Center

The farm features a dedicated research and genetic improvement center, along with a milking facility that employs the latest technologies. The farm also includes specialized barns and storage for concentrated and dry feed, enhancing the sustainability and quality of production. By focusing on external breeding with high-performance breeds, Al-Wasat Farm aims to improve the productivity of local goats and ensure the stability of their physical and production traits across generations.
