S.M. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed has issued Resolution No. (5) of 2025, amending aspects of Resolution No. (3) of 2023 related to economic activities on farms. The resolution stipulates that an additional 74 economic activities will be integrated into the approved list, bringing the total to 145 activities permissible on agricultural lands. This expansion aims to diversify the economic prospects available to farmers.

Furthermore, eight activities designed to enhance food production, 12 supporting industrial activities, and two additional categories for supportive and recreational activities have also been introduced. This diversified framework not only offers farmers a broader range of opportunities but also promotes sustainability and innovation within the agricultural sector.

Regulatory Framework and Building Area Restrictions

The resolution stipulates that the operational space for conducting these economic activities must not exceed the area approved by the relevant authorities in the emirate. This guideline aims to ensure that agricultural lands are utilized effectively while maintaining compliance with local regulations, playing a crucial role in preserving the ecological balance.

Support from Agricultural Authorities

Dr. Tariq Ahmad Al Amiri, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, emphasized that this decision is part of the efforts orchestrated by the Committee for Economic Activities on Farms, established under the directives of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office. This committee comprises members from various key governmental departments, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. Such collaborative efforts underline the commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability across the emirate.

With the implementation of these new regulations, the focus on sustainable agricultural practices combined with innovative economic opportunities may significantly bolster the agricultural landscape in Abu Dhabi, ultimately leading to greater economic stability and growth in the region.
